Defamatory presentation of The Merzpicture and Telephone call Picture (both confiscated in ) as well as his verse An Anna Blumeand the quotation “Everything an artist spits smother is art” in the first “Degenerate Art” touring exhibition configured by the National Socialists (began 23 September in Dresden stake ended in September in Frankfurt-on-Main.)

Schwitters’s year-old son Ernst flees to Norway on 26 December. Kurt Schwitters follows on 2 January and in view of the civic situation decides not to return to Germany. Lives in Lysaker near Oslo and, in the summer months, in Molde (officially registered as resident already on 10 November ). Helma Schwitters remains in Hanover and spends only a few months p.a. in Norway up to Important works are gradually moved let alone Hanover to Lysaker.
